The Best Vanilla Crescents Recipe ( Vanillekipferl )
I spent a lot of time trying out different versions of the most popular Christmas cookie of Europe and this one is my favorite. It calls for hazelnuts. They are prohibitively expensive, but the flavor is unparalleled. If you have to substitute them, almonds will give you a wonderful crunchy delight as well.
560 grams all purpose flour
160 grams white sugar
400 grams soft butter
200 grams ground hazelnuts
1 tsp vanilla
Form into crescents bake at 350 C for about 15 minutes.
If desired, sprinkle with icing sugar.
